Jesus taught in parables. In Matthew Chapter 13: 34-35 it says that "All these things spake Jesus unto the multitudes in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES; I WILL UTTER THINGS WHICH HAVE BEEN KEPT SECRET FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.
As a disciple of Christ you can rejoice because Jesus said to his disciples inMatthew Ch.13 vs. 11 ..."Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven..." And Again He Said InMark Ch. 4 vs. 11 "...Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all these things are done in parables."
Here is an often misunderstood saying of Jesus: Matthew Ch. 18 vs.8 Werefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to Enter Into Life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into Everlasting Fire.
We have been conditioned by religious teaching and doctrines of man to believe Jesus is speaking here of natural hands and feet. That might be to a degree but there is a deeper understanding the Spirit of God wants to reveal to the Disciples of Jesus. Jesus taught in parables but when they were alone he expounded or explained all things to his disciples. Mark Ch.4 vs. 34The multitudes today read the bible but do not see or understand what they read. They see through religious eyes and the eyes of tradition blind them to the truth that is hidden within the book. Those who seek 'The Master" and the "Heart of God" Jesus and rely on "The Teacher" the Holy Ghost to teach them in their private time spent alone with Him-- The Hidden Things Of God Are Revealed.
Traditional teaching goes something like this that if your hand or foot is causing you to sin it would be better to not have that hand or foot than to spend eternity in hell. Now the teachers aren't really telling you to cut your foot or hand off they are just trying to get folks to live right. They want you to fear hell so you won't go around breaking the Ten Commandments. Most of their teaching is about keeping rules, not only the Ten Commandments, but any other practice they don't consider holy in their eyes. Some of their rules might be don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, don't wear makeup, etc. etc.etc. These teachers might mean well but they are not teachers of the spirit. They teach things as doctrine, because of limited understanding, because they spend more time fellowshipping each others writings than they do fellowshipping the Spirit of God.
So lets look at this scripture with the eyes of the spirit. The deeper truth is that Jesus was not talking about physicial hands and feet but about spiritual hands and feet. Many times in the bible natural items are referred to but the Holy Ghost will show you the real meaning as you seek the truth.
The "HANDS" and "FEET" in the verse are referring to the thoughts you think and the words you speak.
Simply Put "One Hand" is your confession that agrees with God's written word or what He has already revealed to you by the Holy Ghost.
The "Other Hand" is your confession that does not agree with God's written word or what has already been revealed to you by the Holy Ghost.
That "Hand" or confession that does not agree with God is "Offending You". It is keeping you from entering into your Promised Land of Victory.
Victory in what you might ask? Well in any area of your life that falls short of the Promises of God. It might be in family relationships. It might be in finances. It might be in health. It can be in area of life that seems more like hell than heaven.
That "Offending Hand" needs to be CUT OFF and CAST FROM US. The thought of cutting one's hand off seems rather desperate - and it is - but "DESPERATE PEOPLE DO DESPERATE THINGS".
God wants us to BE DESPERATE about walking IN OUR INHERITANCE purchased by The Blood of Jesus.
God says that if we CUT OFF THAT OFFENDING HAND -- WE -- ENTER INTO LIFE
In other words we enter into the "Promised Land of Our Inheritance" when our thoughts and words in a particular area agree with Him.
If we fail to CUT OFF THAT OFFENDING HAND -- that confession of our mouth that calls God a liar - We -Are Cast Into Everlasting Fire. Not by God - but - By Our Own Words.
We are tormented in this Everlasting Fire of Unbelief -- We can escape this flame when we - Get Desperate Enough - to Cut Off the Hand that offends us. It's not an actual fire but it burns like a fire in your soul because you are always wondering: Why doesn't God do this or that for me? Why me-why me oh why doesn't God do for me like he does for others? That is the torment and it's because of wrong thinking and speaking most of the time.
I believe the Holy Spirit is already speaking to your heart that this message is TRUTH . If you need to steady your mind from the Winds of Tradition here are some scripture verses that are pretty plain to see the word hands is not always speaking of physical hands.
Psalm 102 vs. 25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the Earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. Genesis 1 vs. 3 God said ---- Let there be light. Genesis 1 vs. 6 God said ---- Let there be a firmament Genesis 1 vs. 9 God said ---- Let the water be gathered Genesis 1 vs. 11 God said ---- Let the Earth bring forth grass Genesis 1 vs. 14 God said ---- Let there be lights
Psalm 73 vs. 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence
Psalm 18 vs. 20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; to the cleanness of my hands He hath recompensed me.
Now there are other verses in the bible that refer to hands but as with these above verses not all hands are physical hands. Just look at the last verse above Psalm 18 vs. 20 -- If we are to be rewarded by the Lord because we have clean physical hands then all we need is to get some Lava Soap or better yet some Ivory 99 44/100% pure bar soap and wash our hands often like the Pharisees of old and wait for His Blessings to fall on us.
How stupid is that? Well to the Pharisees they must have thought something like that because they washed their hands often and were upset because the followers of Jesus did not likewise. You see the Pharisees studied the scriptures but they were very religious and quite a self-righteous bunch. They did not seek the Heart of God for if they had they would have rejoiced and followed Jesus. Jesus was upsetting their religion and they hated that. People are still like that today but don't necessarily go around in long robes they are just more in love with their religion than they are with Jesus.
JESUS SAID ... If you continue in my word, then you are my diciples indeed, And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
Take some time to spend with Jesus. Spend time reading the bible and ask the Spirit of God to let you see those secrets hidden within His Word -- not hidden from you -- but -- Hidden For You.
