Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Tradition teaches us that in the bye and bye, after you die, you are going to Heaven where God has all these mansions that have been prepared for you. Do you notice that it says "if it were not so" in the verse above. It says that because the mansions already exist. Jesus didn't have to prepare any mansions in Heaven but what He did do was prepare a place whereby you could know Him and have His Holy Spirit come and live within you.
With that being said as you have welcomed the Spirit of God in your heart you are in the Father's House. The Father's House is Jesus and YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY MANSIONS. You he is preparing to be His dwelling place for eternity. His Holy Spirit as you yield to him is perfecting everything about you. Your thoughts, desires, attitudes and actions are being comformed to be just like Jesus. It's not about you trying to fix yourself up by lots of rules and religious traditions. It's just you being in love with Him and feasting on His word enjoying him every day and little by little He's taking that mansion and changing things to please him. You begin to like things he likes and begin to dislike things that he dislikes. If you try to do the fixing up you just get frustrated and in the way of His working within you. Then you get all self righteous and look your nose down at others that haven't done as well as you at fixing themselves up.
That is why religion tends to make people very judgemental and sometimes mean spirited. You see they are trying to change your actions by outward rules and regulations and that isn't how God intended at all. You see if you do that you'd be like the pharisees. They looked down on everybody that didn't keep all their outward rules and regulations as unrighteous sinners. Jesus broke lots of their rules just to show them what was wrong in their own hearts and expose them for their self-righteous attitudes. Jesus really hates that. You see man is always looking at the outward actions of a person and if they don't line up with what they think is acceptable in their eyes they look down on that person. Judging them less righteous in their own eyes. The fact might just be that other person might be crazy in love with Jesus more than the one judging them. That doesn't set to well with Our Father God because He looks at The Heart of a Man and the self-righteous and holier than thou attitude in that judging person will be exposed. Maybe not to everyone else but to themselves as they see themselves failing spiritually or morally and doing without the blessings that the other person is getting until they repent of their self-righteous attitudes.
You are one of God's Many Mansions and if you have His Holy Spirit living in your heart just rejoice in the fact that He will change you as you just concentrate on His Love for you. Spend time loving on him and don't get all wrapped up in the doctrines and traditions of man made religion because it will kill your Joy. Not only that but you'll find serving God or trying hard to please him will be impossible. Why? Because you can only please him by faith and that just comes naturally as you get to know Him by loving on him and by reading His word letting Him speak to your heart.
A self-righteous religious person might look at you, in their eyes, and see you as a Worthless Shack but our Father God might just see you as A Beautiful Mansion!
Go ahead and enjoy your life just staying in love with JESUS the one who prizes you above everything.
